There will be a vocab quiz followed by your group skit on the theme Haciendo una llamada on Monday (for period One) and Tuesday (for period Three).
As always, props are encouraged.

Period Two:
Diamante Poem due tomorrow (Thursday) and Unit 1B Exam on Friday.

Period Four:
Diamante Poem is due on Friday and the Unit 1B exam is also on Friday.

At Last!!!!

After an "interesting" class of cut and paste (literally), our passports and visa applications are now complete.Phew! That was a tough class. :)

Period 3, we will begin the next theme, Haciendo una Llamada,tomorrow (Wednesday).
Period 1, plan on presenting your airplane skits on Thursday regardless of absentees.
(We'll figure out a way to make it work.)

The lesson after next will mark the beginning of our year-long stay in Madrid. I look forward to exploring the city with you: We'll learn about staying at a hotel, renting an apartment, understanding the public transportation, grocery shopping, eating out in a restaurant... and much more!

You are doing a great job.

Feliz lunes a todos

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. Spanish One, we are making our way through unit 1B. You should be memorizing the vocabulary for the unit.

Conversational Spanish (Period three) finished up your visa application and passports. Wednesday you will be presenting your skits. Let's hope everyone is well and back at school by then.

Finishing Up El Aeropuerto


We'll be finishing up the El Aeropuerto unit this week, with the vocabulary quiz on Monday (Period 1) and Tuesday (Period 3). Your next skit will be the following scheduled class:

Period 1 Wednesday
Period 3 Thursday

Don't forget to bring props!

You will also be making your passports. If you have scissors and/or a glue stick, please bring them.

Well, we have finished the bulk of the Unit 1A exam with just the speaking section left for Monday(Period 2) and Tuesday (Period 4). We will be starting Unit 1B.

In the textbook - Act 19 on page 38
In the workbook - 1A-2 om page 14 and 1A-4 on page 16.

We will be finishing up this chapter on Wednesday 9/9/09.
Exam for 1A will be on Thursday and Friday 9/10/09 and 9/11/09.

Onward to Unit 1A


We have begun our next unit: What Do You Like To Do? By our next class meeting you should have completed the following:


  • finished pages 1A-1, 1A-3, 1A-5 in the cuaderno

  • memorized the vocabulary on page 46 in the textbook

  • read Fondo Cultural on pages 31 and 34

  • read Exploracion de Lenguaje on page 34

  • done activities 3, 4, 5, 6, 9 and 11 in the textbook

Have a relaxing Labor Day weekend.

First Skits


Reminder that you will be presenting your airport skit during the next class period. Period 1A are scheduled for Tuesday and 3B for Wednesday. Reminder that these will be recorded. Bring in props if you have them. Remember... have fun with the language!

We are starting Unit 1A today. Make sure you are prepared for class (textbook, cuaderno, Quetzal, supplies.) Homework for period two tonight is pages 1A1 and 1A3 in the cuaderno, as well as memorizing the To talk about activities section of the vocabulary on page 46.

To the Airport, Please.....


Conversational Spanish students will have their first skit this week. Period 1A will be presenting on Thursday and Period 3B on Friday.

Don't forget that there will be a quiz on the airport-related vocabulary prior to the skits. After the quiz you will have time to practice as a group before the actual skits.

Remember! Props are welcome and will definitely add to your scene.

Most importantly... Relax and have fun with the language!
